Tall Utah 52-70 is a popular, high-yielding heirloom celery variety introduced in 1953, known for its crisp, stringless, dark-green stalks that grow 11 to 12 inches long. Reaches up to 24–30 inches tall with a compact, upright habit. Sweeter and deeper green than older strains, producing thick, crunchy ribs that do not require blanching. Shows good resistance to diseases like Fusarium race II and western celery mosaic.

Appearance: Tall, upright plants produce smooth, thick, dark-green stalks measuring 11–12 inches long, with compact foliage reaching 24–30 inches tall.
Flavor & Uses: Crisp, crunchy, and mildly sweet with a fresh celery flavor; ideal for salads, soups, stews, stocks, snacks, and juicing.
Growth Habit: Compact, upright plants form dense clusters of thick, stringless stalks and reach 24–30 inches tall.
Growing Notes: Start seeds indoors 10–12 weeks before the last frost, sowing them shallowly because light aids germination. Transplant outdoors after frost, spacing plants 8–12 inches apart in full sun and rich, consistently moist, well-draining soil.
Harvest Note: Harvest when stalks are full-sized, firm, and crisp. Cut the entire plant at soil level, or remove outer stalks individually as needed.
