Green Fleshed Honeydew is a classic sweet summer melon with a smooth, creamy-white or pale-green rind and juicy lime-green flesh. Its sweet aroma and flavor blend honey, melon, apple, and refreshing cucumber notes. Fruits typically weigh 3–6 pounds and measure 7–9 inches long by 5–6 inches wide. The smooth, waxy rind turns from pale green to ivory-gold or creamy white as it ripens. The central seed cavity is very small.
Germination: 5–10 days
Maturity: 85–120 days after transplanting
Genus: Cucurbita pepo
Quantity: 25 Premium Heirloom Seeds
Appearance: Round to oval melons have a smooth, waxy rind that turns creamy white to pale gold when ripe, with thick, juicy lime-green flesh and a small central seed cavity.
Flavor & Uses: Sweet, mild, and refreshing, the juicy green flesh is ideal for fresh eating, fruit salads, and desserts.
Growth Habit: This open-pollinated melon produces sprawling vines and needs a long, warm growing season. Space plants 2–3 ft. apart in rows 5–6 ft. apart, allowing room for vines and pollinating bees.
Growing Notes: Sow outdoors after frost when soil reaches 70°F or warmer or start indoors 2–4 weeks before transplanting after the last frost. Avoid disturbing roots. Provide rich, well-drained soil, 6–8 hours of full sun, and consistent moisture. Harvest when the rind turns creamy and the blossom end yields slightly to gentle pressure. Cut melons from the vine; unlike cantaloupe, honeydew does not slip from the stem.
