Early summer crookneck squash is a prolific, fast-growing heirloom bush variety that produces buttery-yellow, curved fruits with bumpy skin. Pick fruits when they are young and tender, about 4 to 6 inches long, skin is still tender enough to dent with your fingernail. Harvest frequently; leaving oversized squash on the vine will signal the plant to stop producing new fruit. Enjoy them fried, steamed, sautéed, grilled, or baked.
